Dr. Robert Kinsel Smith has developed some interesting research that directly impacts us as trainers. His research shows that, at any given moment, we are in one of four thinking conditions (TCs). Two TCs are deliberate: relating and reflecting. Two are automatic: responding and reacting.

The most interesting element to come out of his research is that it indicates that decisions made when people are in a relating and reflecting state tend to be very good decisions (as frequently as 85 to 95 percent of the time, in fact), while those decisions made when reacting are very good only when a person is aware, trained and equipped for a specific task.

The problem? Read more in this month’s newsletter HERE.
